Snow Cream

Yesterday it snowed, so today Cassidy and Naomi made snow cream.

They took snow, some milk, sugar and chocolate syrup and mixed it all up.

It tasted pretty good. They had to eat it fast because it was melting.

But the best thing was that they had some special "sister time" together.

Loving the Warmth

I'm thankful for the days the Lord gives us in the middle of winter when it's warmer than normal. Yesterday it was 57 and the sun was shining.

So we took advantage of the warmth and went outside in the afternoon. It was great to feel the sun on our faces.

We enjoyed spending time with the animals.

Cassidy and I were able to take Trissy and Peyton for a nice walk. We didn't ride them, just led them around.

Today, we're inside. It's only 29 and feels like 16. Brrrrr!

Oh well, spring is only a couple months away.

My Little Helper

I love the age when children think chores are fun. When I tell Naomi it's time to do the laundry, she's excited!! Wish I could say the same for myself and the other kids.

What makes us change our attitude toward chores?

Is it because we know there are funner things we could be doing?

Or is it because we've done the same thing over thousands of times and it becomes boring?

Whatever the reason, I know that we can be thankful. Maybe we won't get excited, but instead of complaining about the chores we can find ways to be thankful.

Take the laundry for instance. I'm thankful God's given us plenty of clothes that get dirty and need cleaned.

I'm thankful for a washing machine so I don't have to do it by hand.

Also I'm thankful for the dryer so my clothes can get dry quickly.

I'm thankful that I have a lot of laundry because it means I have a lot of people in my family.

So, while I may not get excited about doing the laundry like Naomi does, she does remind me to be thankful.

Not One But Two!

Today Matt, Cass and I drove 3 hours to Iowa to look at a horse that Cass found for sale on the internet. The horse has a good, calm dispostion and was a good price. Cass has been saving all her money to buy another horse and she's been praying God would show her which one would be good for her. This horse has been worked with somewhat and allowed Cass to get on her back while we were there. She's very gentle and we think she'll make a good horse for the family. While we were there we saw her foal that she had last April. Well, we couldn't leave without taking him with us too. We almost came home with another horse that was there for sale but, thankfully, we restrained ourselves.

On the way home we stopped at Arby's for lunch. The 3 of us like Arby's but the boys don't so this was a perfect time for us to go there to eat.

This is Trissy. She's 6 years old and just the sweetest thing.

OK, maybe this is the sweetest thing. We're not sure yet what we're going to name him but we're leaning toward Peyton.

Naomi thinks they are absolutely wonderful!

Our other horses didn't think so, but they eventually allowed Trissy and Peyton into the herd.

Matt and I were thankful to be able to spend the day with Cassidy. We praise the Lord for giving us such a special girl.

I couldn't think of anything to post, so I thought I'd post some pictures of daisy to show how she's growing.

Big difference from 5 months ago.

Happy New Year!!

Welcome back to our blog. Sorry we were away for so long.

We had a wonderful vacation back east over Christmas seeing family and friends. We feel very blessed to have such a great family and group of friends.

We praise the Lord for giving us a wonderful 2008. He blessed us with good health, prosperous business, a new home and a lot of life lessons to help us grow. We look forward to serving Him in 2009 and seeing what He will do. Maybe He’ll come back this year…are you ready?

For New Year’s Day Naomi and I made special cupcakes.

Our present to the boys for Christmas was a Wii. It’s fun to play together as a family, so that’s what we did today. It’s not only fun to play, but it’s hilarious to watch them play.
In all these pictures they are playing tennis.

In these videos they are boxing. (In case you couldn't figure it out.)

Come back again soon. I hope to post more often.
