A Visit From Susie

My mom, "Susie" (as she's affectionately called by the children), came to visit us last week. And we were all glad she did! We had a lovely week together even though some of us got the stomach flu toward the end of the week, including Susie. UGH! Thankfully, we took this picture before that happened!

Thanks for visiting, Susie! We love you!!

Adventureland

This past Saturday we were able to go to Adventureland in Des Moines, Iowa. Cassidy won 5 tickets during our library's summer reading program. We had a great time.

Before we went in we decided to have lunch at KFC. Naomi looks so big drinking her drink like a "big girl."

She loves their mashed potatoes with gravy.

We weren't sure how she would do on the rides. As it turned out she screamed....when we took her off! :0 She loved the rides so much that when they stopped and we had to take her off she would throw a huge fit. We had to convince her that if she didn't stop we couldn't put her on any more rides. She finally figured it out.

The big kids wanted to ride with her.

The big kids also rode the other rides but I didn't get pictures of them because their rides went too fast. :) They all tried the roller coaster that went upside down. The boys liked it but Cassidy didn't.

On the way home we stopped for pizza!!!

We had a great day together as a family.

Here is a video. Sorry for the poor quality. Not sure why it's like that.

Ladies' Retreat

Last weekend I went to a Ladies' Retreat in Ottawa, KS. I noticed on the camp's website one day that Carol Trahan was speaking. I have heard her before in VA and was glad for the chance to hear her again. I asked my friend Jessica to go and she agreed. We had a nice time. The food was good but it still wasn't Camp Calvary. :) The cabins were not as nice either but they did their job. Carol's teachings were a great blessing to both of us. Praise God for her testimony.

Here is a picture of the outside of the cabin.

This is the inside. They had 6 sets of bunkbeds inside.

There was a nice bridge that went across the lake.

This is not a very good picture of Carol but you get the idea.

Jessica and me.

Homeschool Giveaway

My friend at HsKube's Haven at Home is having a homeschool giveaway. She is giving away some great things. Cassidy would love to have the drawing pencils and I would love the Birds & Blooms magazine. There's still time to enter if you're interested.

Update on Matt

Today Matt went back to the ear doctor. He cleaned out Matt's ear from the operation but, unfortunately, his hearing didn't improve. Needless to say, Matt was quite discouraged, but he knows God is in control of all things and that His way is best.

"As for God, his way is perfect:
the word of the Lord is tried:
he is a buckler to all those that trust in him."
Psalm 18:30

Nothwest Missouri State Fair

Last weekend was the Northwest Missouri State Fair. Smaller than the York Fair but a little bigger than the Dover Carnival. Our church had a stand set up and we passed out tracts and gave away ice cold water and lemonade. We're especially thankful that our church does this each year because that's how we found out about the church just two days after we moved to Missouri last year.

The kids got to enjoy some of the rides.

Naomi enjoyed her first lollipop, or sucker, as they call it here.
